How to fill in the Layout Settings

The following settings will help you adjust the layout of labels on the AALabels® AAR068 template to ensure a printout that meets your needs and compensates for potential alignment issues specific to your inkjet or laser printer.
These same settings apply whether you're uploading label design files from your computer (using the upload button above) or printing AALabels® AAR068 labels using the Hlabels.com Label Sheets App for Canva, the Adobe Express Add-on, or the Google Docs™ and Sheets™ Add-on.
Find more info about each setting below.

  • Labels to skip
This setting is useful if you are reusing a label sheet where you have already printed and peeled off a number of labels, and now want to print on the remaining ones - helping you avoid wasting the entire sheet. Because AALabels® AAR068 template contains 68 labels, the maximum possible value for this field is 67. Set this field to the number of labels that have already been used and need to be skipped in this printout.
  • Labels to print
The number of labels that will be printed depends on the value you set in this field, as well as the number of label images you upload. If the value you set here is smaller than the number of uploaded images, it will be ignored, and the printout will include at least one label for each uploaded image. If the first label sheet runs out of available labels, the remaining images will be printed on additional sheets (second, third, and so on).
  • Page orientation
If you want your label images to be inserted vertically (i.e., rotated -90 degrees) into each label, there's no need to rotate them manually before uploading. Just set this field to "Landscape", and the system will automatically rotate them and generate the label sheet printout accordingly.
  • Bleed area
When your label background isn't white, slight misalignments during printing can cause a thin white edge to appear along one or more sides. A simple and effective way to avoid this is to print the label image slightly larger than the label area, so the background extends beyond the label's actual edge. This method is called applying a bleed.
If you notice white edges, select a bleed area between 1% and 5%, depending on how much coverage you need.
  • Vertical offset
Inkjet and laser printers don't always feed paper with perfect vertical precision, which can cause labels to print slightly higher or lower than intended on the sheet. This setting allows you to apply a vertical offset of 1 to 3 mm to compensate for misalignment caused by imperfect vertical feed.
  • Horizontal offset
When the paper sheet sits a little to the left or right in the tray, labels can print off-center. This setting lets you apply a horizontal offset of 1 to 3 mm to correct the alignment.

How to ensure your design fits the label

Each AALabels® AAR068 label is 45.0 millimeters wide and 15.0 millimeters high. To make sure your design fits properly within this label area:

  1. Match the aspect ratio
To avoid empty space around the printed label, make sure your design's width-to-height ratio is equal to, or closely matches, that of the label, which is 3.0 (45.0 divided by 15.0).
  2. Mind the resolution
To avoid blurry or pixelated printouts, create your design at 300 DPI and never below 150 DPI.
  3. Mind the pixel dimensions
To ensure that your design properly fills the label's 15.0 millimeters height, it must be at least 177 pixels high at 300 DPI (or 88 pixels high at 150 DPI). Apply the same logic to the width. If you maintain the same aspect ratio as the label, the width will automatically comply.

Note that Hlabels won't enlarge small images to fill the label space, as this could result in pixelation or blurry printouts. However, if your images are too large, Hlabels will reduce their size to avoid generating an unnecessarily large printout file.
